Summer is one of the favorite seasons of many since it means vacations, disconnection, rest, and taking less care of yourself. Leaving the routine implies modifying the schedules, the diet, and the maintenance of our body. Excesses and bad habits translate into overweight, dry skin, or loss of hair vitality.
But there is no need to worry, here we give you some tips to take care of your body and mind, and arrange everything so that nothing takes you by surprise this summer:
Protect yourself from the sun
We are increasingly aware of the harmful effects that prolonged sun exposure causes on our skin. Sun protection is essential at all ages, all parts of the body, since the effects of the sun on our health can be revealed in the short and long term.
One of the essential resources to protect the skin from the sun and ultraviolet rays are sunscreens. But, what should we take into account when choosing one or another lotion?
The level of protection against sunburn (SPF) must be, at least, factor 30. The higher this filter, the longer the period that you can sunbathe without risk of burns. In addition to the high protection index, it must protect against UVA rays (associated with aging and loss of elasticity of the skin), as well as UVB rays (related to burns and causes of skin cancer).
Suitable clothing and accessories
In addition to the application of sun creams to protect ourselves from the sun, we must not forget other great allies of our skin at this time: hats, caps, sunglasses… They will protect your skin, eyes, and face at times of increased solar radiation.
The possibility of suffering burns resulting from inadequate exposure to the sun is not the only negative factor for our skin in summer. We must be careful with the clothes and shoes we choose, as these can cause chafing, irritation, and wounds on the skin. Not everything goes to show off the best version of yourself.
Get regular physical activity
Moving is essential to lead a healthy life and, above all, for our body to have the appearance we want. You don’t have to do high-intensity exercises but we do recommend doing physical activity for at least 150 minutes a week. This is the minimum duration recommended by the World Health Organization.
What sports are the most suitable? It depends on your preferences, but if the gym is not your thing, you can also choose to walk for an hour a day or run moderately, swim or even go dancing classes, pilates, yoga … The possibilities are endless! In addition, today there are numerous ways to exercise at home if you prefer it that way.
Drink enough coconut water
Water is the basis for keeping the body healthy. However, this consumption does not have to come directly from drinking regular water but can be combined with the consumption of A de Coco. It is an excellent option to stay hydrated during this summer, thanks to its electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Electrolytes are great for everyday consumption; they help regulate your pH, keep you hydrated, and control muscle contractions.
Protect your hair
Excessive sun exposure causes damage to the hair, in such a way that it can burn it, change its texture, make it more fragile, dehydrate it and cause it to lose color, among others. Some of these damages could be recovered or prevented with some treatments like coconut oil. It has a restorative and revitalizing effect that deeply protects and nourishes the hair. Therefore, it is ideal to use it when you have dryness, either on the scalp or in the hair. After bathing, apply to avoid frizz and nourish it. For a more in-depth treatment, before going to sleep, apply a drop to your entire hair and let it rest overnight, the result will surprise you.
These are some of the ways to take care of yourself in summer. Keep these in mind whether you are traveling for your summer vacations or staying at home. Remember to stay hydrated with A de Coco!
